C.H.I. Overhead Doors, Inc. is committed to the development and exchange of information and learning topics by offering continuing education opportunities to the architectural community. We currently offer two face-to-face (live) instructional courses delivered by our Architectural Consultants, as well as two self-study online course exams.

In this one hour live course design professionals will learn about Rolling Steel Fire Doors and proper specification. We will review best practices for fire door design and illustrate why this design is critical to fire safety. Course Title: Exploring Rolling Doors & Commercial Sectional Doors: Understanding the Operation, Installation, Safety Features & Design Options
In this one hour live course design professionals will be informed about the inheirent traits of rolling steel doors and commercial sectional doors. Participants in this course will gain an understanding about the Operation, Installation, Safety & Design Options available for commercial rolling and commercial sectional garage doors which will help determine th best door type to utilize for a particular application.

Course Title: Solutions in the Design Process Utilizing Security Grilles
This course will examine the use of Security Grille Doors in the design process. Participants will learn about the main operation choices, mounting, layout and aesthetic design options and which of these are best suited to achieve desired project goals including safety, visual access, air circulation and aesthetics.
Our two classes, "Specifying Rolling Steel Fire Doors" and "Residential Garages and Overhead Doors" are each approved AIA/CES courses offered to you at no cost. Credit earned upon completion of a class will be automatically reported to CES Records for AIA members.
Course Formats: These are structured, web-based, self study courses with final exams.

Upon completion of this course, you will have a better understanding of the fundamental aspects of Rolling Steel Fire Doors addressing NFPA 80 mandates, listing and labeling definitions, approved manufacturing and installation standards, approved fire wall construction details, and various code and regulatory bodies. Upon completion of this course, you will understand the history and evolution of the residential garage as a design element of the home.
